Colette Inez

Colette Inez is the author of nine books of poetry, most recently Spinoza Doesn't Come Here Anymore (Melville House Books) and Clemency (Carnegie Mellon Press). In 2005, the University of Wisconsin Press brought out her memoir The Secret of M. Dulong praised by A.M. Homes as "a transcendent celebration of wit and intellect."

Among her many honors are fellowships from the Guggenheim and Rockefeller Foundations and awards from the NEA and the Poetry Society of America, on whose governing board she serves.


Inez lives on the Upper West Side of New York City and has been teaching poetry workshops at Columbia since 1983. She has held visiting positions all over the country.

Her work has appeared in Iowa Review, Paris Review and many anthologies.
